The best way to discover a new place is by traveling with friends. But if you don’t have any, the next best thing is connecting with others who have already been there and asking them questions about their experiences. Luckily, there are plenty of Facebook groups for black travelers. Before heading there yourself, you can ask questions about specific destinations and find out what other people think about them. Some of these Facebook communities even provide helpful information on how to get around, what to do while in town, or even where to eat!

The group was started by two black women: Helena Fonseca (the founder of Black in Portugal) and Lizbeth Lopes (who oversees the account). However, if you’re looking for new friends or advice on living/traveling as a black person in Portugal, this is the place to go!
